On last week’s episode of the Nothing to Write Home About podcast, host Matt Pryor (the Get Up Kids, New Amsterdams, et al) was interviewing friend and fellow musician Joshua Berwanger about his time in the Anniversary and the Only Children, as well as talking about Berwanger’s new musical project, Berwanger.
In the course of the interview (which is really quite good, and a must-listen for anyone who was seeing shows in Kansas City during the mid-90s), Berwanger discusses the possibility of a reunion of his most well-known band, the Anniversary, and reveals something pretty astonishing:
“Janko [Christian Jankowski], since the day we broke up, has been trying to get the Anniversary back together and, so, he almost got us to play the Middle of the Map this year.
Everyone agreed to do it, believe it or not, and it came down to, like, a timing issue — not having enough time to rehearse before that week.
So, I think … it could be fun? I don’t know. I thought at one point, the original Beatles would have a better chance of doing it.”
Here’s hoping that happens at some point, then, shall we? It’s no longer just wishful thinking. Listen to the episode below, and subscribe to Nothing to Write Home About on iTunes.
