The Hussy, “Undefined” (video)

The Hussy – Undefined (Official Video) from High Frequency Media on Vimeo.

The Hussy‘s new album, Weed Seizure – and seriously, how fucking great a title is that? – comes out March 13 on Tic Tac Totally. The fuzzy garage duo’s follow-up to last year’s Cement Tomb Mind Control is currently sitting on my hard drive, and we’ll have a review for you sometime next week. In the meantime, take a look at the band’s video for “Undefined.” If you thought the Pharmacy’s video for “Dig Your Grave” was creepy, weird, and hypnotic, but you wanted it to seem more like a hallucinogenic fever dream, it’s gonna be your fucking jam.

Free music to soundtrack your holiday weekend

Before I step away from the computer for a glorious three days of over-indulging in sun, booze, and fire-cooked meats, I wanted to share some free tunes that’ve found their way onto the Internet over the past few days. There’s some good stuff for you to play while in the car, at the beach, or next to the grill.

loseyerdamnmindFirst, we’ve got a bunch of new stuff from Evil Weevil. The record label’s got previews of six upcoming releases and artists, including perennial Rock Star Journalist faves the Hussy.

Although not a new track, this number from Cement Tomb Mind Control ought to further convince you to buy the LP, as well as whet your appetite for their upcoming single (singles, actually – they’ve got a couple coming out on Slovenly Records’ imprint Black Gladiator later this year, as well). More info about those releases, including tentative dates, is at the Evil Weevil blog.

Two new releases about which you should get excited

cover-ptp-dead-meatProper grammar makes the headlines a little longer, doesn’t it? Anyhow, two new releases are on the way that ought to get your excitement up and blood flowing.

First up: Faux Guidos Personal & the Pizzas last put out the singles collection Raw Pie on 1234 Go!, and they’ve finally announced their next release. It’s entitled Dead Meat vs. Joanie, and it’s due out April 15 (Tax Day, for you folks here in the States) via Total Punk Records. You know how punk Total Punk is? They don’t have any presence online whatsoever. Trust me – I checked. I imagine this will be another slab of punk-inflected doo wop garage.

cover-hussy-ctmcAlso due out in April is the full length from the Hussy which features one Bobby Hussy, who is the gentleman running Kind Turkey Records. I’ve heard the LP, Cement Tomb Mind Control, and it’s fucking great. If you thought the two-person garage rock thing was dead, you are sorely mistaken. This might be the craziest thing from two people since they invented sex. It’s coming out on Slow Fizz Records, which (as you can see) does have a website, so this one might be a little easier to get your hands on.

We’ll be posting songs and stuff as they appear online. Promise.
