Madrid’s The Parrots on their upcoming single for Bachelor Records

parrots
Hailing all the way from sunny Spain, Madrid’s The Parrots rock a fresh take on garage rock, imbuing the genre with a woozy, surfy vibe. They’ve a new single out on Austria’s Bachelor Records on June 24, but they’ve shared the a-side, “Loving You Is Hard,” online for everyone to check out. We enjoyed it so much, we got the band to answer a few questions for us via e-mail.

New Peach Kelli Pop LP on Bachelor

cover-peach-kelli-popIf you’ve not had the opportunity to track down a copy of Peach Kelli Pop‘s debut LP, now might be the time to do so. That self-title release was original put out by a record label out of Ottawa (yes, Canada) called Going GaGa, then repressed by Infinity Cat Records, and I still can’t find a fucking copy to save my life. It’s a popular record amongst people who like their rock ‘n’ roll poppy and lo-fi. “Do the Eggroll” and “Knockout” are simple, fun, dance-party numbers perfect to get people bopping about your living room.

Thee Tee Pees, “Your a Turd”

cover-thee-tee-peesThis is terribly-recorded, grammatically-lacking budget rock. Out now on Bachelor Records, this debut single from California’s Thee Tee Pees is heavy on the organ, light on anything resembling subtlety. Fun as hell, though. Bachelor is known for fun stuff, and they’ve yet to put out anything that’s so stupid as to be insulting. This treads a line, but manages to do so fairly well. You can snag it for €4 from the Bachelor shop. It’s limited to 500 copies in budget rock (read: cheap paper fold-over) sleeves.

Batman, “Cucciolone Classico”

cover-batmanBatman and Robin are this two-piece garage rock combo that sing songs about being superheroes. Their first single was entitled “Who the Fuck Is Superman?!” to give you an idea of where they’re coming from. Bachelor Records has now released the first-ever Batman solo release.

To make it a little novel, all the songs are in German, and it comes with an autograph card. It’s limited to 360 copies and the four-track 7-inch (including the song streaming below) is available right now from the Bachelor Records store.

Die Ersten Menschen, “You Better Satisfy”

cover-die-ersten-menschenBachelor Records has released quite a few things we love here at Rock Star Journalist headquarters, such as Clorox Girls’ “Novacaine” single, and early stuff from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Adventure Kids, Hunx, and the Black Lips. Thus, when a missive arrives notifying the world that they’ve not only got a new release, but an LP, it’s worth noting.

Die Ersten Menschen‘s debut LP, Apocalypse Now & Then (mastered by Crypt Records’ own Tim Warren!) is described as so:

If you have the slightest interest in series like TEENAGE SHUTDOWN or BACK FROM THE GRAVE you get crazy for this. If you have records of bands like (early) BLACK LIPS, HYPSTRZ, HENTCHMEN and such and like to play them over and over – DIE ERSTEN MENSCHEN are the thing you should ask for in your records shoppe. Their sound is a bit like before mentioned bands, just give them a blend of wylder 60s combos and plant this seed into first class Crypt Records soil from circa 1993… Don’t expect this to be your ordinary BFTG copycat band dressed in hipster garment.

This is the real deal. Issit clear? Ah hope its crystal!”

I want this bad, especially after hearing this first song, “You Better Satisfy.” You too can get all tingly in the bathing suit area with a listen via the embedded widget below. Somebody get copies in the States posthaste so i don’t have to shell out for international shipping.
