A bordello kind of guy

Listen up. You kids like Flogging Molly? You like to jig and dance up a storm when you’re at a show? Well, have I got the band for you…

SideOne Dummy (home to Flogging Molly) is putting out Gogol Bordello‘s next album, Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike on August 23. I name-dropped them back in this blog’s first post a couple months ago, and if any of you clicked on the link, you hopefully browsed their site and discovered the joy that is the Bordello’s mix of punk, gypsy, and cabaret.

Their cd released last year, Multi Kontra Culti Vs. Irony, has seen a lot of play at the bakery where I work the past couple of weeks. There’s no better way to get several people for whom caffeine is a way of life (and thus useless as a stimulant) and who have been up since 4am up and moving, than to put on some good, mildly insane music that sometimes inspires the odd high-stepping dance. Much to the amusement of the customers in for breakfast.

They played a free show in Lawrence a few months ago, and the general consensus was that the show was amazing and phenomenal and I am an incredible jackass for having missed it. For those of you who want to catch the live show, they’re touring with Flogging Molly this summer, as well as playing some Warped Tour dates.
