the Mummies - Sub Pop Singles Club 7″

Despite appearances to the contrary, this Mummies 7″ is not actually a Sub Pop singles club release. It’s actually on Pure Fun Records, whose only other production appears to be a record by a band called Dr. Surf.

I love Google.

Anyhow, it’s two tracks that simultaneously celebrate Devo while riotously beating the shit out of these classic songs. The Mummies take the idea of devolution and apply it to Devo. Post-modern? Meta? Perhaps, but definitely brilliant.
