So, over at the almighty Archive dot org, there’s this compilation entitled Wild About You! Tales from the Australian Rock Undergound 1963-68. As the album description says, it features “19 of Melbourne’s toppest contemporary groups doing covers of the most classic retro-stompwise slopp” from “a number of homegrown acts came to epitomise the down and dirty sound of the Antipodean underground.”

It’s damn good. Granted, I’m more familiar with the ’70s Australian punk bands (the Saints, Razar), but I do know one thing: this is a fantastic compilation. It’s well worth your time, and will school you in bands you never heard of both then and sorta-now (the comp’s two years old, and garage acts either last forever or about three months).
