Podcast #55, “Fresh Faces”

scrub-faceOn Tuesday, I had an idea that I thought would make for an easier podcast this week: play only artists that’ve never been played on the podcast. Be it the old Podomatic Rock Star Journalist podcast, archives from the Sunglasses After Dark radio show, or current S.A.D. podcast, I wanted artists that’ve never made it onto any of my digital output.

Idea: awesome. Execution: not a time-saver. I could’ve recorded the whole damned show in the time it took to check every band I picked against past playlists. On a positive note, it’s a 100% original production that’s made for a great show. My brain got stretched something crazy putting this together, and the song selection ranges a little further afield because of it.

Next week, we’ll be blasting out some crazy garage numbers, inspired by a drive home in this awful heat. Nothing says “beer and dancing” like some classic ’60s garage numbers, right?
