My friends… they’re really all I wanted, anyway

My friend Doug called me up this afternoon and needed a ride to the bank and Old Navy for a replacement winter jacket. We ended up hanging out, driving around, smoking, and harassing the fine folks at the local tattoo shop for the better part of the late afternoon.

Sure, you may drive your vehicle-free friend around to do errands, too. However, I do that for my friends, and I end up with three packs of smokes. It would have been three packs of smokes and a beer, but I had to get home and make dinner. Why do people always offer me booze when I can’t drink it?

In honor of friends being totally cool, here is a song in that vein. This track, by Manhatten, KS, ska heros Ruskabank is probably one of the greatest friend songs ever. Seriously, once you’ve heard it, you will be singing along each and every time it enters your playlist. And if you were a good music fan, or an especially amazing ska fan, you would head right on over to their website and buy both their albums. The band’s not as active as they once were, but both cds are officially in my top ten local albums of all time, and probably in my top twenty albums period.
